Your comments on this candidate

With reference to the NRO NC election, I would like to self ominate myself. I am Yaovi Atohoun, born in 1964 in Togo (West Africa). After my secondary school, I attended an electrical engineering school from 1985 to 1990.   After that, I have attended many workshops on Internet technology, wireless technology and policy.
In 1992 I moved to Benin where all my job positions until now are in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) area.  Internet started in Benin in 1995 and I was with one of the first organizations that helped individuals or other organizations to be introduced to the Internet. Since that period I am very interested and involved in debates and  discussions related to the Internet.  My professional
experience has taken me through many countries especially in Africa.  My work includes technical installation, ICT policy actions and project coordinations.  I have also been involved  in the creation of the assocoation of  the West African Telecommunication regulators (WATRA). This is why I am very familiar with  ICT environment, Internet resources management, namely  the Internet names and numbers issues within the region.

I am one of the founders of the Internet Society local chapter ISOC-Benin. I am playing the role of secretary General since 1999. I attended the first AFRINIC meeting in Cotonou where many important steps have been taken and made AFRINIC a reality today.

I can see myself confortable to play a role of adviser on IP number resources allocation policies. I look forward to be a member of the NRO NC  council. Yours truly

Your comments on this candidate

My name is Ali Drissa BADIEL, head of the Maintenance and Computing Development Department of ONATEL (the National Telco of Burkina Faso, in West Africa). My department is in charge of the national Internet Backbone administration and management and we are also the main ISP and the LIR of Burkina Faso.

Concerning my education, I graduated in IT & Telecommunications
at the National Institute of Telecommunications (INT) in Evry (France) in 1996. Before that, I got my mastress in physics at the University of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) in 1993. During my Telecommunications training in Evry, I passed my Cambridge First Certificate (with grade B) in 1995.

Since 2000, I've regularly participated in ICANN meetings thanks to the sponsorship of INTIF (Agence Intergouvernementale de la Francophonie, France) and I was also representing my company (ONATEL) as an AfriNIC founding member in Accra (Ghana, 2001). I have a great interest in Internet, first because it is my core business, and second I think that the Internet can help developing countries like African ones to reduce poverty, ignorance and move forward to catch any development opportunity thanks to the Information Society.
That's why I am involved and supporting the AfriNIC process and therefore I want to best serve the Internet and the community by presenting my candicacy for NRO NC.
